A large Construction Materials supply/Construction company operating throughout South Africa, Africa is looking for suitably qualified or experienced Workshop Manager - Surfacing/Paving Construction Plant - Durban with a knowledge of Roads & Surfacing (Bitumen/Chip & Spray) Construction plant.Must be prepared to travel and if necessary work overtime/weekends.Must be hands on with good management skills.

Position: Workshop Manager

Qualification: Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic(Red seal)
Experience: 10 years on Heavy Duty Trucks & Plant used in Surfacing/Paving. 5 years supervisory experience
Reports to: Branch Manager/ dotted line to Fleet Manager
No. of Staff reporting to: Mechanics & Mechanics assistants

Responsibilities:

- Manage all preventative and corrective maintenance of the fleet
- Manage all legal requirements such as licensing, Calibration, COF
- Repairs & Maintenance on Heavy duty trucks including engines, brakes, clutch, suspension, limited electrics/Pneumatics/hydraulics
- Monitoring of Costs
- Stock control (parts)
- Administrative work such as job cards, purchasing, maintenance schedules, maintenance books etc.
- Health and Safety
- Upholding the Company’s policies and procedures
- Able to travel on breakdowns, and work away from home (site visits).
