In the uThukela District of KwaZulu Natal, is a town called Estcourt. Farming is the main economic activity of this town, with large bacon and processed food factories situated around the town. Estcourt developed from being a market town serving the local farming community in the twentieth century, to a town in which the farming community's products could be used in the manufacture of consumer products. In Estcourt is a Nestlé factory the produces Coffee, MILO and NESQUICK. The town also has a mill (headquarters in Durban), that uses timber harvested from 21 922.2 ha of productive commercial plantations earned by the company. Currently the mill employs 900 people and chips 600 blogs a day.
