Au Pair in France

France is considered the most romantic country in the world. But aside from its pristine and romantic settings, it is also a land of opportunity for those who wanted to explore the culture and general way of life. Employment opportunities through au pair are available in France for those who could meet the general requirements and documentations.

France Au Pair Documentation Requirements

The main requirement for au pairs before they could be granted entry in France is a work Visa. To gain this documentation, employment contract should be obtained from the host family. The employment agency will secure this documentation and the applicant should use this documentation for approval from the local French embassy.

Au pair applicants are strictly limited to those aged from 18 to 30 years old. They should also show that they have not been part of any au pair program in the past with the same country. While it is not a requirement, health insurance applicable in France is highly recommended for protection.

Au Pair Work and Activities in France

Au pairs are required to work for no less than 30 hours a week but should not exceed 35 hours. Included in the work hours is the possibility of baby sitting at night from two to three times a week. Au pairs in France are usually granted one day off but they are also granted paid vacation depending on the agreement between the host family and the au pair. Minimum salary is at €240 for a 33-hour work week.

Aside from work requirements, au pairs in France are also required to enroll in language classes. This is a requirement because French is the primary language and it’s important to learn the language to easily communicate with kids.

Financial Requirements

While au pairs will be compensated financially, they should still show proof of their capability of going home without additional help. They should show at the beginning of their stay that they have the financial capability to purchase a return ticket. While this fee could be covered by the host family, au pairs will still have to pay for their ticket going to France.
