Alan is a highly experienced ‘Intrapreneur’ and entrepreneur who has built a number of companies from concept into thriving operational businesses. He is uniquely creative in developing strategies for companies who strive to transform the markets that they operate within. His broad range of skills enables him to translate the strategy into detailed systems, processes and operations that can take a business to market in a short space of time then grow them into household names. He thrives in environments which are fast moving and highly ambiguous with numerous competing priorities. He can cut through the chaos of launching or transforming a business to breathe life into systems and operations at a rapid pace. He is then skilled at measuring & learning from the business then pivoting through the growth curve to ensure that the trajectory always stays positive. Understanding the trade-offs between technology, process and people while moving at speed towards moving goalposts is his particular strength. He is energized by the opportunity to create or transform businesses into new markets, new products or to face new business challenges. He can operate seamlessly between strategic issues in the board room to operational issues on the ground. He does what it takes to translate strategy into tangible and real customer journeys. While much of his recent career has been in Financial Services, his skills can be applied across many technology oriented industries. Outside of work, Alan’s energy is dedicated to health and fitness. He has completed over 20 Ironman Triathlon events over 3 continents in the last decade. His ‘happy place’ is on his bicycle, under the African sun dreaming of the next problem he can solve! Alan is currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa – but his kids are grown up and his British & Irish Passports along with South African Residency give him great geographic flexibility for his next opportunity.
