To Whom It May Concern, I have worked 16 years in the UK construction industry. During this time I worked from the bottom up, I started as a labourer at Canary Wharf for Otis a lifting company, and a plaster board company, who I joined thought an agency. From here I was able to work my way up to becoming a tower crane operator, which is what I spent the majority of my time doing while based in the UK. This saw me moved between sites and resulted in me being a highly desired member of the work force. I was based with an agency and often I would be requested by site agents that I have, had previous dealings with. There were a few times when the work dried up and during those times I took it upon myself to train in other departments. It was during a time as that then I organised my own training to be a slinger, signaller. My time as a tower crane operator saw me work on a wide range of sites from, residential, commercial and civil sites, examples of this would be: the London Cross Rail project, 22 Bishopsgate, the Esso oil refinery at Fawley near Southampton, and retirement residential complexes for McCarthy and Stone which were situated all thought the south of England. During my time as a tower crane operator I studied to become a Crane Supervisor, which triggered my interest in Health and Safety, and how one can make a safer work environment. Which in turn made me a better operator through observing how the site works and seeing how to improve things. My role meant that I had to work closely with the site agents, and this helped me learn a lot on helping improve the sites efficiency. I have recently completed the SAMTRAC course at NOSA, just awaiting the results.
