I believe that my many years of experience in various occupations and disciplines has provided me with the necessary skills and confidence to teach English as a foreign language. I am well practised and confident about on-line teaching and have used both Skype and Zoom. I, myself have had the experience of learning a foreign language – first when I grew up in Zimbabwe, Africa, where the official language was English in school and it was not my home tongue. Then secondly, much later as an adult, when I travelled to S.America I had to learn Spanish so that I could communicate with local speakers. After school in Zimbabwe I moved to South Africa where I completed my university studies. After many years of teaching in Zimbabwe, South Africa and England a window opened up to the world – I could start travelling. I now had the privilege of encountering different cultures which stimulated in me a keen interest in visiting many non-English speaking parts of the world. And that interest became the basis for my next career choice – travel! I started my own travel business in which I am still involved although due to Covid there is not much business. So, I can help with teaching Business English skills and conversation. I have many years of experience in the business world with meetings, conferences, negotiations and marketing. I have more than 30 years’ experience working with young people as a mentor, coach, teacher and manager. Now that I have qualified as a TEFL teacher I am very excited and enthusiastic about using and sharing my teaching experience and life skills. I have always been passionate about helping young people to improve their skills and reach their potential. Please do not be put off by my age! I am a very young ‘senior’ person - still very active and enjoy physical exercise such as regular cycling and walking. Until Covid started I was used to working full days 24/7.
