Chris is an independent forensic contractor with his own consultancy business. Until November 2020, Chris worked at the SIU as Project Manager involved in complexed State Capture investigations relating to Transnet. His responsibilities, inter alia, included the planning and execution of forensic investigations and managing a SIU team consisting of six Forensic Investigators and two Chief Forensic Investigators. Before joining the SIU, he finished a four-and-a-half-year contract at Lonmin mine (now known as Sibanye-Stillwater) where he successfully managed, investigated and reported on more than sixty projects. This included preparation of disciplinary evidence packs and testifying in disciplinary hearings on behalf of Lonmin where necessary. Prior to opening his business eight years ago, he was a Senior Manager at Nexus Forensic Services for 7 years. Prior to joining Nexus, he had tenures at the Forensic Audit Unit at the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Manager at Avalanche Forensic Services, a Forensic Investigator at Deloitte Forensics and an Inspector in the Commercial Crime Unit of the SAPS, where he specialised in fraud investigations. Chris is experienced in forensic principles such as the approach, planning, analysing, investigating, reporting and managing of forensic projects. Chris is an excellent Project Manager and has trained and managed teams of investigators, consultants and data capturers in the past; conducting quality control in respect of their work on a continuous basis. He works well with teams as team leader and lead investigator but can also function effectively on his own as investigator. Chris has worked with a variety of law enforcement agencies such as the Directorate of Special Operations, National Prosecuting Authority, SARS, SARB, Asset Forfeiture Unit, Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and the Special Investigating Unit. He has also worked on numerous public and private sector investigations. Chris has been involved in training staff during his time at the Department of Justice, Nexus Forensic Services and the Special Investigating Unit. When needed, Chris presents monthly training sessions whereby staff is trained in forensic principals, proposal writing, procurement fraud in the private and public sector and various other topics identified by junior and senior staff, in order to enhance their skills and prepare them for future assignments.
