I started my studies at Stellenbosch University, B.Eng Civil Engineering. I then started working at KWCE Consulting engineers. At the time the only telecommunications engineers. I worked on DFA,Vodacom,ZTE,Telkom,IS etc. I had to know all the specification. I then moved on to MDU installations and quickly moved to Core Network Project Manager on FTTH networks at Vumatel and Fibrehoods. The leadimg FTTH company at the time. I piloted the first large scale aerial fibre network roll out in the Western Cape. I was head hunted by MTN to managed the whole Western Cape Wayleave applications. I did 300 projects a year. This was on FTTS network architecture.
