I am very privileged when it comes to my history, some say it is luck, some say it is hard work, but I believe the foundation has been established by my parents and this paved the path for me. Since my younger years, I always tried to find ways to make money / do business, most of it holiday work but some more permanent i.e. delivering newspapers every morning for 5 years which enabled me to have money to transact. I have always been looking for something that differentiate me from others, when my circle of friends went to college I chose university and had to stand on my own feet. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Management Sciences but felt I barely scraped the surface of what I should know. I then enrolled in Honours for Logistics Management and, after graduation, felt I was ready to hit the market. Little did I know that one need a lot of experience to be considered a worthy individual of importance within the work place. I have worked as an employee for 5 years and then started a small business with my mentor where my focus within the start-up remained business development and sales. We launched one of our 'babies' / in-house projects approximately 4 years ago. Unfortunately time to market was not adequately planned and the investors’ expectations were unrealistic which resulted in the business not being successful, none the less I learned valuable lessons. During this period I also spend a lot of time on consultancy, property development projects and new business start-ups. I was engaged at the time and required more stability and have been under permanent employment since April 2017. I have learned that you always need to stay ahead of your practical experience when it comes to theory and application. In order for me to manage or build a company I needed to know the essentials and have it set in stone as part of my core. Even though one gradually learns and get exposed to new models and ways of completing tasks and how to correctly analyse industries my 5-year plan after completing my studies was to start with my MBA. The investment and choice to grow myself started in 2018, part time in order not to interfere with work. I will be graduating early April 2020, all prior commitments have been dealt with and passed. The skills and tools I bring to a team contributes to making a difference in the bigger society and equip the company to make a difference in the workplace and social community. I want to grow a brand at a company that has a reputable status and want to make a success of the projects I get involved in. One of my personal goals would be to get a silver medal in the Comrades Marathon (89km road running ultra-marathon), as I enjoy running and have set myself this goal 1 year ago, "at the age of 35 I want to run a silver". I have been fortunate enough to be part of well-established (Global) companies to date and have always been involved in Business Development and Sales for South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, with a multinational client portfolio. My main purpose and role is to support the sales activities and assure that there is enough profit in accordance with the management system. To reach this goal some of my tasks include but is not limited to management and development of customer database / relationships and documentation, compiling cost and comparative models for projects and equipment, developing customer focused project solutions while maintaining the correct profit margins, enhancing market presence and creating top of the mind awareness in the industry, issuing invoices as per the project specific milestones, updating and maintaining the monthly order book (which is a crucial part of the business as our budget is directly derived from this) and negotiating and closing contracts. My main “skills” include my people skills, my leadership skills and adaptability in bizarre situations. The aspect that has driven all my achievements through the years is my “can do” attitude, and not being afraid to take on a challenge (no matter how big); this has never let me down in any situation. I understand that experience plays a vital role in business and I have been involved in very high level negotiations and projects and believe that my personality and attitude drives my success and will not let the company down.
