I have a unique overlap of highly specialized skills combined with a natural, easy way with people that motivates teams to cooperate, collaborate and deliver. I have a proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and lead contractors or teams in ensuring on-time delivery of all projects through an enthusiastic, consistent can-do approach. I am an accomplished individual with over 24 years working experience in delivering technically complex projects in Oil & Gas as well as in Mining and Marine. This encompasses FEL1 to 3, Pre-Construction, Construction, Project Management, Contract Management and Project Control on EPC and EPCm projects for SMPPT. I have also managed projects in Duba, Jubail, Najran, throughout Africa (Zimbabwe; Ghana; Madagascar and Gabon). My experience includes managing the following: - Building and repairing of Bulk Storage tanks (API 620; 650 & 653), Piping (A106; St/St; HDPE; Fire Piping, etc), Civil, Mechanical, Structural Steel, E&I, Cladding, Insulation, Painting, Welding and managing a variety of Subcontractors. I was the Operations Manager for Construction at Redis Afrika, responsible for mining projects in South Africa, Africa and Madagascar. This involved SMPP, tanks and Mills and other OEM mechanical equipment. I know that I am suitable for any senior construction management position as I have managed many large projects, viz. Sasol Secunda (CTFe & VOC) where I was part of the IMT (Integrated Sasol Management Team) as well as working for the two top engineering and construction companies in the world, viz. Fluor and Jacobs Engineering. I have experience in conducting Constructability Reviews, CCR1 to CCR3 and the various Gated Phases (FEL, FEED, EPC). I write our PEP and develop my own schedules on MS Projects and ensure that the tasks are logically linked and resource loaded. I have experience in dealing with the Spatial Planning Committee of Sasol and was also a member of the Sasol Safety Steering Committee giving input on safety from a construction perspective and was part of developing Sasol’s new Safety Program. At Redis, I assist the Estimating department with their estimates from a construction and execution perspective. I generate all schedules required for enquiries as well as execution and write all the Project Execution Plans. I manage various projects from award to project close out and final account and basically act as Project or Contracts Manager in the absence of one. Previously I was the Country Manager for Construction (MOC) for Jacobs Matasis for Oil and Gas in South Africa. I was responsible for all SMPP and Tankage construction projects in the South Africa. Part of my duties included:- Ensuring compliance with the company safety program; Business Development and support Business Development team; provide input into proposals; assist with contractor audits and vetting; preparing sales material and conducting presentations; provide assistance and solutions to construction teams; coaching and assessments of staff; review and approve construction hours and budgets for estimates, assist in generation construction schedules; provide constructability solutions to project managers; site visits for generating construction method statements; provide construction personnel to projects and ensuring company sustainability by sourcing new projects and marketing. I was seconded to a very complex and difficult project that was split in two projects, CTFe and VOC with a total of 1200 direct field labour that included SMEIPT and civil work. I was part of the Integrated Management Team (IMT) and the Construction Director for the IMT. I had two construction managers, eight construction superintendents and four construction foremen reporting to me as well as the quality, handover and safety teams. Before that, I was the Projects Operations Manager of Secunda for Fluor South Africa. I oversaw the fabrication workshop as well as the construction projects. My duties included cost forecasting; risk management; handling claims and contractual disputes. Balance of my duties are in my Curriculum Vitae. Before that I was the Senior Site Manager for Group 5 Oil and Gas. Please refer to my Curriculum Vitae for duties. Before that, I was the Contracts/Project Manager for Cosira Engineering of the piping division. I was managing a Platinum mine project in Zimbabwe for DRA. I was based in Johannesburg and oversaw a team of 200 people ranging from Project Accountants, Quantity Surveyors, Site Managers, etc. Due to the urgency of the work and a number of shutdowns, I spent most of my time on site once I had all the expediting from Johannesburg sorted out and enough material on site for the work to progress. I ensure that the safety, budget, quality and schedule is maintained and kept in line with company policy. I also source additional work and do marketing. Before that, I was the Contracts Director of the Petrochemical division for Concor Engineering. I secured many projects for the company and all my projects ran at a Nett profit of between 14-26%. I have managed many projects at Sasol, Sapref, Chevron, Engen, ACSA, IVS and Vopac and they included tank building, tank repairs, piping, structural steel, mechanical works and Reactors. I also managed a tank building project that was running at a loss when I joined the company and turned it around from a huge loss to a profit for our company – we built the tallest tank in the southern hemisphere and second tallest in the world. I was also employed in the marine industry on a R168 million project as a Project Manager. I owned a Project Management and General Engineering company and had a Professional Services Contract with Grinaker-LTA (Aveng), managing the tank maintenance contract at Sapref refinery and Island View in Durban as well as for Trotech Engineering, building tanks in Mossel Bay for the Eskom Gas Turbine plant. The project value was approximately between R25- R45 million and R20 million respectively. My company has since been made dormant due to family commitments at the time. I was responsible for projects estimating in South Africa and Saudi Arabia as well as executed in Jeddah, Oman and Najran whilst at Consani Engineering. I was the person responsible for assisting our local partner, Hidada Steel, with estimating and execution of projects. I know that I will be an asset to any organization as I have strong leadership skills, I am a team player and I have good people skills. I am a self-reliant, goals driven go-getter constantly seeking new challenges and ideas. I have built up good relationships with my clients, suppliers and contracted staff. It is based on mutual trust, openness and honesty. I am a perfectionist and have an eye for detail and good business acumen. I am an excellent salesman and have good negotiating skills. I have experience with IR and HR matters and I have conducted many labour negotiations including retrenchments. I have also worked my way up through the ranks and have practical knowledge of SMPP, Tanks, Pressure Vessels, Mining, Marine, E&I as well as Civils in both EPC and EPCM. I am registered as a Professional Construction Manager (PrCM) with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP). I am planning on writing my examination to be registered as a Professional Construction Project Manager soon. I can prepare my own budgets, method statements, safety procedures, schedules and from time to time I assisted the client with their yearly budget forecasts, KPI’s, Capex and Revex costs. I specialize in bulk storage tanks and have managed many multi-million Rand projects and sub-contractors. Upon request, I gave a presentation at the 3rd Annual Liquid Bulk Storage Tank’s Conference on “best-known practices in the industry and on ways to increase the in-service periods for the tanks”. This is a conference for all African companies and stakeholders in the Liquid Bulk Storage industry. I have always equaled or bettered my budgets, schedules and safety statistics. The codes of construction that I utilize are: API 650, API 653, API 620 and BS2654. I am also conversant with ASME 8, ASME 9 and ASME “U” based on experienced gained from building pressure vessels. I am extremely safety conscious and always tried to instill this in others by leading by example. In my initial five-year tenure at Sapref refinery, I managed the repairs of more than 200 tanks and had no Lost Time Injuries, less than ten First Aid Cases and achieved 740 000 Safe Working Hours. Combined with other contractors, we achieved a total of 9 million Safe Working Hours at one stage. Since 2009, I have not had any Loss Time Injuries on any of our projects at Sasol. My strong points are: - • I have a very strong business acumen and extremely well versed with construction contractual matters with various suite of contracts • I have built up my experience from the ground up and have experience that will be hard to match by other candidates • I have “Africa experience” and have what it takes to work in Africa • I am very goal driven and independent but also a team player • I am not afraid to make difficult decisions when the need arises and I have the experience to make those calls • I will always try and ensure that all parties are kept happy and have a win-win relationship but with my company getting the better deal • I treat the project budget as if it was my money and focus on maintaining or improving margins • I am a people’s person and know how to motivate people to get the most from them and have worked with a variety of people with different cultural backgrounds • I am proficient in NEC3; FIDIC; JBCC and GCC • Profession knowledge of Contracts and Contractual Laws and Clauses • Once I start a project/task, my main focus is to complete it safely, on time and within budget • I am an extremely hardworking person, not afraid to be han
