As an honours student in Entrepreneurship & Marketing Management, I have been provided with an obliging overview of the realities of business and invaluable industry insights. I was taught that success in business management is built upon a strong foundation of education and understanding of how successful businesses are run. Today, I fully understand the value and importance of teamwork, and how to function as a team player, in order to optimise an organisation’s performance. By holding the role as a group leader throughout many assignments, I learned how to gauge my expectations, build strong relationships, earn the respect of group members, and how to enhance both the morale and productivity of the group. I found that studying business management heightened my ambition and long-term career goals, and assisted me in developing skills and personal competencies that can only be developed through targeted business studies. I do consider the four years of practical assignments which I completed at university, whilst obtaining my degree, as high valued experience. During my final year of my undergraduate studies, we were given the assignment to determine a gap in the market and physically create a product that has never been invented before, in order to fill that gap. We also conducted practice focused market research for a new company located in Potchefstroom. I completed my 3 year degree in B.COM Business Management & Entrepreneurship in 2019 with distinctions in all my modules and an academic average of 91% for my core modules. What I value most is my ability to prioritise and apply effective time management. Any of my lecturers or fellow students can attest to the fact that I am target driven, trustworthy, that I work well under pressure, and that I consist of excellent communication skills. During my honours degree I gained a lot of physical, first-hand experience in e-commerce, purchasing raw materials, applying effective production strategies, implementing supply chain management, building relationships with suppliers, creating marketing content, working with customers, and making sales. We were also assigned to create a complete, brand new retail plan and marketing plan for well-known companies located in South Africa. My biggest career highlight was working as an assistant at McDonald's in 2013 to 2015. My responsibilities included assisting and overseeing the daily operations of the beverage department, as well as order preparations, refills, stock management, and customer service. I believe that the knowledge and skills I have gained through four years of studies, previous work experience, university leadership positions, academic societies, and campus structures, is sufficient to be an asset to your company.
