Karabo completed her Honours Degree in Corporate Communication in 2008 and embarked in a career in Public Relations and events. Throughout the years her responsibilities included: drafting PR plans, client service, implementation of communication and activation strategies, media relations, event management and coordination, campaign reporting, managing interns and Account Executive as well as assisting in proposing innovative concepts and ideas to maximize returns. Her career highlights across the years include, launching the Albany’s Skip for health primary school programme. Being part of the team that launched the Golden Cloud ‘I bake I care’ project that saw women start their own successful businesses in Soweto. Implementing a Stimorol music concert, which had an international act and top local artists, with no advertising and all communication done through Public Relations tactics. She was also part of the team that recently saw the number of Vodacom USSD users increase dramatically due to the type of media used for an Orlando Pirates campaign – Bucs Get Ready. Another highlight was a CSI project she was part of for the Kaizer Chiefs player handover. This saw a the 2017 Kaizer Chiefs player of the season pick a charity of his choice to donate half of his winnings to and this case, the player chose his primary school. The team Karabo worked on deemed that CSI project the Shabba Challenge. The organisation of the charity drive was successful, with a turnout of over 30 mainstream sports media houses.
