I am currently an Articled clerk at Singhs Attorneys based in Randburg, Gauteng. During my 2 year experience as an articled clerk, I conducted trials, appeared at the CCMA on numerous occasions, conducted unopposed divorce trials and administered deceased estates. My experience varies in many areas of the law which gives me the ability to adapt to any work environment, despite it being different in nature. In addition to my litigious experience, I also performed legal administrative functions such as ensuring that my and the firm’s diary system are managed and up to date. The most valuable function I have acquired is the management of my individual client files. In addition to pulling out and diarizing my files timeously, I ensure that documents are lodged and filed on time. Practice in a law firm allows one to practice effective time management and prioritization skills. I enjoy working independently as well as with other team members in accomplishing targets. The working environment taught me that no task is too small. Each task should be performed meticulously. I have learned to appreciate the technicalities not just in law but the subsidiary fields/industries such as finance, insurance and property related matters which I have been exposed to in my experience. I have also learned to appreciate the integrity of the law field by performing each task with commitment, honesty and very fine attention to detail. I trust that my experiences have provided me with a strong foundation which will help me acquire many more skills along my way.
