I am a Fashion Designer based in Cape Town. The brand that I represent goes by the name of "The Modern Boesman". It's not just an ordinary clothing line, but instead, it tells a story through its creations. My passion lies in incorporating fashion as a means to explore different aspects such as identity, culture, and religion. For me, the key objective when designing new pieces is always centered around sparking conversation among people whilst also raising awareness on social & environmental issues at large. My extensive industry background enhances my freelance work. From 2015 to 2017, I refined my expertise as an Assistant Designer in menswear for one of South Africa's largest retail organizations. This involved conducting trend research, devising product ranges, creating technical packs and facilitating communication among departments. Sharing knowledge is key. I currently lecture fashion design students, guiding them through the entire design journey – from concept sketches to final production. My expertise, in CAD” computer-aided design (Illustrator & Photoshop) covers fashion technical drawings, illustrations, pattern making, extended to material selection, production processes, and fashion business essentials like buying and merchandising.
