I am looking for opportunities to help gain practical work experience. In my five years of study at Nelson Mandela University I have completed a great deal of course work on Quantities, Building Science, Building Economics, Quantity Surveying, and Information Technology for Building Disciplines. In these courses, I have learned the principles that need to be followed when conducting cost estimates- the methods of creating BoQ documents and the principles of the KBCC series 2000. I am well acquainted with the use of the ASAQS Guide to Elemental Estimating and ASAQS Standard System of Measuring Building Works. 8n addition to this, I can accurately read and analyse drawings, do dimension take-offs, and make reasonable assumptions where necessary. Through site visits and the materials and methods module, I have acquired a great deal of knowledge about methods of construction, materials and construction sites thereof. I can confidently use Microsoft Office, WinsQS and can type fifty words per minute. I intend to expand on the above, gain new insights and above all acquire practical work experience. I wish to be exposed to the process of producing payment certificates, the creation of BoQ documents an exposure to industry-grade software programs.
