After matriculating from a small town high school in Bethlehem in 2011, I was enrolled into the Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Pretoria. Some skills I have learned in my studies are effective time management and applying an engineering mind set to a wide variety of problems. During my career, I have been exposed to the NEC contractual environment in the water treatment industry, managing all aspects of projects after receipt of order; planning documentation, procurement, manufacturing, implementation and quality management. This role demanded effective resource management (time, personnel, capital) and liaising with suppliers and clients in terms of realistic deliverables. My position in the consulting field for product development filled a largely design role, however projects also required managing and planning. The nature of the consultancy caused exposure to a variety of disciplines including electromechanical, aeronautical and structural and demanded flexibility in roles in order to deliver on all facets of projects. In my personal capacity I enjoy hobbies such as keeping planted tropical fish tanks and designing and producing parts with 3D-printing. I have also developed a small business with a partner, producing and selling epoxy resin products. These hobbies have challenged me to step out of my expertise comfort zone in order to achieve success.
