Tarryn Narain obtained her B.Sc. Geological Sciences in the year 2015 having majored in Environmental and Engineering Geology. Tarryn is presently employed as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner and Environmental Control Officer with 5 years’ experience in the field. Tarryn is currently registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals as a Certificated Natural Scientist. She has worked on various projects for engineering companies such as GIBB and Ziyanda Consulting. She has also been involved in projects with the Department of Transport, eThekwini Water and Sanitation and various municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal. Tarryn has undertaken over 30 Environmental projects within South Africa, including Basic Assessments, Water Use Licenses, Environmental Management Programmes, Mining Applications, Environmental Auditing and Environmental Screenings / Feasibility reporting. Each environmental project requires the management of the project from start to completion. Each project requires the assessment of the site to determine the impact of the proposed development on the receiving area. Tarryn compiles scientific reports incorporating impacts of the proposed developments, and accounting for environmental, economic and social feasibility. These impacts are assessed in a holistic manner, in conjunction with the specialist reports received, outlining the need and desirability of the project from a social, economic and environmental perspective. Tarryn’s personality characteristics include being sociable, motivated and driven to succeed. She is open to criticisms and welcomes all new learning experiences with great enthusiasm. She is enthusiastic to gain new knowledge and will share this knowledge with others in the team to the best of her abilities.
