Art has 45-year’s experience in the built-environment in South Africa. He has a B.Sc. in Building (Building Science UCT 1976) and a Masters Degree in Industrial Administration (MIA UCT 1979). Starting as a contracts manager with a Cape Town based construction and engineering contractor, he then joined an American consulting practice as a structural and civil quality engineer at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station (1977 and 1981), then to a coal-fired power station construction (1982 and 1984), then to Engineering and Construction manager overseeing industrial, commercial, institutional and residential development at Transkei Development Corp. until 1988. End 1988, the executive general manager of a housing development subsidiary of M&R then moved on to commercial and industrial property development with Group Five Construction, where he became a director. In 1995, he formed Augmentis, a consulting practice offering services in the built-environment. Under Art’s helm, Augmentis continues to provide a wide range of business support services to a wide-ranging client base. He holds a CEA, is a property practitioner and a member of the Institute of Estate Agents SA and REBOSA. He also has a PMP certification. He served on the executive committee of PMI USA’s South Africa Chapter for one year. He is currently a full member of Project Management SA and the South African Chapter of the PMI USA. He has been engaged in property development for the last 25 years and is reasonably proficient in French.
