I’m currently working as the Marketing Manager at United We Are SA, an events company based in Potchefstroom. I have 3 years’ experience in events and marketing with marketing and promotional experience in over 100 events. I organised over 20 events and promotions and I am responsible for creating the post event files of the events or promotions we as a team did together. These files are confidential files that show the type and scale event as well as incidents, improvements, financials and other confidential information. With this I learned how important budgets are and it further improved my skills and knowledge of events, planning and marketing. This is a fast-moving industry where I learned how to work under pressure, where you cannot slip up, things must happen on a certain day and time otherwise the event might not happen or you will put the event at risk if you are irresponsible, where you do not have the luxury to procrastinate and where I easily work 24 hours non-stop to ensure the job gets done. In these 3 years I have worked with local and international DJ’s/artists, various suppliers and different sponsors. I have experience in a management position where I managed people, marketing, events and promotions. I have experience in management meetings where I chair some of the meetings, take notes/minutes of the meetings and where I am involved in planning and strategy sessions. I have very good people skills and I love working with people. I studied physiology and psychology and I got my degree in these subjects; I use what I studied to work with people on a psychological level. I went to an English/Afrikaans High School where I gained experience in different cultures and religions. My years at university exposed me to multi-cultural friendships where my knowledge of people grew further. With this I learned a lot about people and how to work with them by being able to relate to them, people trust me and they open up towards me easily. I have worked with people of all ages, backgrounds, religions, worldviews and mindsets. I learned to differentiate between my own thoughts and feelings and those of the people I work with. I believe in trying to be respectful and professional towards others at all times. I work hard and do my work/job to the best of my ability. I love challenging situations, I can improvise and solve problematic situations and various problems, due to my previous work experience. I’m not scared to ask for help when I need it and I will gladly help where my help is needed If I experience a setback or a difficult situation I learn from my mistakes and past experiences, using this new knowledge I’ve gained in future situations to improve my way of thinking and working. I enjoy thinking outside the box and I love new experiences. I strive to continuously learn and prove myself a valuable asset is the business.
