Dear Recruiter, This cover letter is intended to explain why I am applying to a freelance position and the bases of my fitness in this role. The stage of my career life I am at is where I no longer need coaching nor guidance. Throughout the last nine years, starting from January 2010, my direct managers, their superiors as well as project management teams have been used to giving me the lead in the assignments I handle. Whenever I am assigned an editing task, I am solely responsible for answering the queries of my junior colleagues, approving the terms and references they use and most importantly furnishing them with detailed feedback after the final delivery that thoroughly clarifies the edits for their future use. That is not to mention I am of the top preferred resources to handle Translation, Editing and Proofreading (TEP) tasks for my successful decisiveness and independence that are time-, effort- and money-saving for the whole investment. As for project management teams, they are used to holding me alone responsible for dealing with all translation-related matters with the client. For the good of both departments, I have never failed a client requirement, test nor a refutation of inaccurate assessments. Furthermore, the job nature of translation, throughout twelve years, has developed a tendency to the exceptionally refined quality of individual concentration; without affecting, when the job requires, my excellent fit-in any professional teamwork. Financially; freelance work is a good option aligned with the aforesaid reasoning and, above all, the fact that my vocation as a translator is a major source of my personal joy and satisfaction. For myself, a managerial role is the same like asking a prima ballerina at the peak of her performance life to move to the trainers' position. My faculty degree specialized in literature, a year translating historical governmental and national documents of various official entities, and eleven years in the localization industry have elaborately sophisticated my ability to precisely mirror almost any English text. In the meanwhile in the companies I worked for, I handled projects in the fields of nuclear weapon banning, United Nations documents, patents, legal documents, e-learning, end-user license agreements, pharmaceutical package leaflets, clinical trial information and consent forms (ICF), medical device and equipment user manuals, computing hardware and software, smart phones, games, kids' toys, household appliances, culinary content, fashion, business cards, automotive texts, industrial machinery, transportation, travel, tourism, hospitality and airlines. Plus, company logos and marketing campaign slogans are the commonest examples of transcreation I handle impressively. These are some examples of my competency to create honest translations, no matter what the text type is. Together with the fully-fledged bilingual proficiency, setting about the translation of such widely variegated subject matters prerequires a capability to comprehend specialized concepts and particularly technical specifications, grasp the differing product and model utilization with their economic dimensions, absorb the aesthetic aspects, maintain the source tone and faithfully convey that blend to a variedly segmented target audience. Moreover, since January 2010, I have been assigned linguistic sign off (LSO) of website content scaling up to e-learning courses of the United Nations Organization for its working teams. In all kinds of jobs I conduct, I follow the same process to assure the loftiest translation quality; consisting of (1) translating the source text; (2) checking the target text against the source text for all kinds of translation mistakes; (3) running a computer-aided-translation quality assurance tool, e.g. Linguistic Toolbox, on the file(s); (4) reviewing the target text for both the target syntax and readability and (5) proofreading the final translation as a standalone end-product. Additionally, I am assigned linguistic quality check/inspection/assurance (LQC/LQI/LQA) and proofreading jobs of other colleagues within the firm I work for and of external requests from clients; which implies either or both of editing the target or presenting detailed commentary and reports. Thus, in consideration of the current stage of my career life and my accumulated heterogeneous experience, I believe a freelance position is the ideal option for me.
