I am a hardworking individual who is never afraid of challenges. The position in question will expose my ability to be a leader and show my growth. I believe I am able to run the programs and manage people because I can work with people from different walks of life. I started my journey at Grassroot Soccer in 2015 until 2016 as a Life Skills coach, and my duties were: Working as a peer educator/facilitator about HIV/AIDS with youth to promote healthy lifestyles Implement Grassroots Soccer curriculum and attend frequent coach development sessions. Provide youth with tools and information that allows them to succeed, make smart choices and lead healthy lives. Collect data to support research on sports and development initiatives. Help recruit participants into Grassroots Soccer programs from local schools. Be a resource for children to come to in search of support and information. During my journey in Grassroot Soccer I got the opportunity to under go the ACTIVATE! Young |Leaders Programme that ran for a year and it had two residential camps were we were trained on community leadership, Project management and it was also an opportunity to engage with other young leaders and make connections with in the community and country. In 2017, I got an opportunity to become a Life Skills Mentor Coach (I am a mentor coach to date), and my duties are: Recruit participants into Grassroot Soccer programs. Capture data onto sales Force. Research on sports and development initiatives. Be a resource for children and Life Skills Coaches to come to in search of support and information. See day to day progress of interventions on the ground. Be a mentor to coaches and participants Working as a peer educator/facilitator about HIV/AIDS with youth to promote healthy lifestyles Implement Grassroots Soccer curriculum and attend frequent coach development sessions. Plan Health Day events for participants to test for HIV. In 2018 January I enrolled in a program called Laureus Sport For Good (YES), This program aims to support youth leaders from Sport for Change organizations by providing them with high level accredited and non-accredited trainings. I have gained more confidence in working with a large group of people. I have also learned how to work with deadlines and am able to work with monitoring and evaluation paperwork, and also am able to work independently as well as within a team or group. At Grassroot Soccer we go around schools (within the townships we work in) implementing Life Skills programs to the youth. My experience through Grassroot Soccer has helped me learn different facilitation skills and has helped me achieve a certificate in Facilitation with SETA.
