My work experience after Varsity College has covered a variety of fields. This includes 3 years a an Aupair, 2 years as a English teacher in Thailand, 2 years of being a strategic communications account manager at a digital agency, where I focused on change management, PR, communications and client services. All this has now lead me into focusing on communications, change management and behavior change. I have completed courses that equip me with the skills necessary to focus on communications, change management and behavior change. All these experiences have prepared me to deal and cope with a variety of situations including challenging ones. This has also led me to my most recent position where I managed brands and clients by ensuring positive relationship based on trust and delivering the required project on deadline. I ensured that proper research was done which allowed me to inform the client as to the best possible direction to follow. Using various digital platforms such as Pixel, Sprout and Google survey I was able to deduct the relevant information to make an informed decision for my client. Change in a digital agency is inevitable so using the models and strategies necessary to make the change process as unproblematic as possible was compulsory. I hope to broaden my experience and knowledge as a young individual who is eager for change and hard work. During my 3 years of studying, research was my favourite class. I enjoyed learning about differing cultures and communication types and then derive all the information to create a solid research question that was not only interesting to read but that was relevant in today’s context. 3 years as an Aupair in Cape Town looking after 2 kids from the ages of 3, 8 and 10, involved helping with homework, fetching and carrying from school, staying with them for a week while mom traveled periodically. It was hard work that allowed me grow and learn. Teaching in Thailand for a year was a highlight of my work experience, which involved teaching 7 year olds to speak English with the help of my Master TEFL course. The class I taught was the lower intensity class so having patience and gentle nature when dealing with slower learners was important. This lead me to being an Strategic Brand Account Executive in client services within a digital marketing agency, for 2 years in Johannesburg. During which I had to manage clients, have patience when communicating in the most effective manner, develop relationships with them to ensure they were always happy and received work on time from my agency. I brought in new clients, I briefed them on art works, I brought projects to studio, I managed client relationships with a hands on approach, traveled for clients in different cities and worked under tight deadlines. It also involved bringing the client well thought out adaptable strategies based on digital research and using social research from certain companies such as PwC. In a fast paced company where change was inevitable, change management was important to our clients and as client services it was important to manage the change as seamlessly as possible with the help of experience in ADKAR model and the Bridges Transition model. My decision to study again was to up-skill myself in more specific areas of interest with in my degree such as research and change management. I completed a course via Coursera in quantitative and qualitative research methods. While keeping myself busy with studying I completed a 60 hour course in web development (HTML and Java) which is important in our increasingly technical age. I have spent the past few months of 2019 studying Neuro-economics in order to broaden my skills in the areas of change within the brain as well as within a social and business context. I use inductive and analytical reasoning when I conduct my strategies therefore using a specific to general approach to understand the reasons for change; will be incredibly helpful in my approach to understanding change. My practical experience with change management while working in client services and my general daily interest in change means that my next step in the change management field is for an exciting career. I feel I am adaptable when change occurs and relish the idea of a new experien¬ce. Naturally I am hard worker and always have my finger on the pulse. My personality allows me to make friends easily and I am also adept at managing people.
