My name is Shina Mavuso I graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017. During my undergraduate studies, I participated in debating, public speaking and moot court. Through hard work, I made it to Deans List and Golden Key. I am a community leader; in my second year of studies I was elected the leader of Sunnyside residence outreach programme. In my first year, I started a non-profit organisation called Section 29: Apply Help, which raises funds to assist learners from underdeveloped schools to apply to tertiary institutions in an effort to solve the issue of unemployment in my community. The leadership role helped me develop interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, as I was required to resolve all disputes that arose within the organisation. In 2018, I joined Sun International where I completed a 12 months training programme. I rotated in three departments namely: legal, company secretarial and compliance. The programme helped me sharpen my written and verbal communication skills though drafting agreements and giving presentations to senior managers. I work very well in a team and independently. While working at Sun International I assisted with organising colleague’s birthday celebrations and formatting agreements. I was responsible for drafting committee minutes and board resolutions independently with minimum supervision. I also prepared agendas, attendance registers and circulated documents for meeting. I assisted with drafting Sun International’s Integrated Annual Report for 2018 and board resolutions. I organised board minute books and have conducted due diligence.
