I am an enthusiastic, confident, hardworking and creative person. I work well individually but also with others, as I am always willing to learn to grow professionally. I take pride in ensuring that I am professional and perform tasks at the best of my abilities whilst meeting deadlines and work appointed to me. My post-high school education began in 2013 at Stellenbosch University doing a gap-year course in entrepreneurship. Unfortunately I was unable to complete the course but it did, however, shape my thinking in terms of falling in love with travelling and learning how to start a new life far from where I grew up. In turn, I developed the social and teamwork skills needed to adjust to life away from home and building lasting connections. I spent a few years out of school working and returned in 2016 to begin my investment management course at Milpark Business School in Auckland Park which was cut short when I had the opportunity to enrol in the Sound Technology learnership programme offered by MICTSETA through the SABC. After a few years of working in retail stores such as Boogaloos and Mr. Price for holiday jobs, I began work at dotsure.co.za selling short-term motor insurance. My objective in the job was to learn how to handle rejection and develop my sales skills because I feel that every professional needs to sell themselves and their work in order to grow and be successful. Due to these skills, I have found success in getting the jobs I have had interviews for and how to stay optimistic in my jobs even when faced with various challenges. In 2016, I joined the SABC with basic-to-intermediate knowledge of sound engineering and production concepts from years of experimentation and online learning on my own. Part of the requirements of the completion of the programme, are that you submit a portfolio of projects that showcase a practical and competent understanding of audio technology theory. I have experience in music, radio and general studio recordings; connecting to main control via Glen Sound and ISDN; equipment testing; rigging and de-rigging safely; first-line maintenance; production planning and reporting with technical riders. I also spent a year at the Durban branch of the SABC working on music recordings(in studio) and; sports, radio and orchestral recordings(outside) to name a some of the work I’ve done. I am confident that I am able to work in almost any team as I do possess great people skills with a keen interest in working for the end goal and learning with every project undertaken, and I enjoy encouraging my colleagues to do their best always. I am a positive person with a great sense of humour and a love for sound engineering and design.
