My name is Zwelihle Mavuso a 30-year old male, currently employed by Engie – Kathu Operations Pty (Ltd) as a DCS and Control Systems Engineer for Kathu Concentrated Solar Power Plant in the Northern Cape. I provide technical expertise and support for all automation systems implemented in operation of the 100 MW CSP Plant which is equipped with 5 hours Thermal Energy Storage System. I’m currently responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and management of all Distributed Control System weather they are remote or auxiliary systems, this also includes the different brands (Siemens, ABB, Schneider etc.) and control philosophy of these different levels. I’m currently also responsible for the maintenance of the Control systems and have a team of Controls & Instrumentation Technicians support in conducting this responsibility. My function is to lead, supervise and co-ordinate the team and our contractors, carrying out focuses on compliance of the maintenance plans and on efficient and effective development of breakdown maintenance to ensure that Plant C&I equipment are maintained as per procedures documented in the Maximo and OEM requirements. I am a vibrant, energetic person who’s neat, punctual, diligent, hardworking and always eager to learn. I communicate well with fellow peers and I’m always willing to assist where ever I can. I’m a leader who can take an initiative if needed, but also never afraid to follow my subordinates. I believe great things can be accomplished when people work committedly as a team as well as individually.
