Ackermans was instituted in 1916, by Gus Ackerman who opened the first store in Wynberg in Cape Town. His vision included the ideal of having customers find quality products at reasonable prices. In 1986 Ackermans was, subsequently, bought by the Pepkor Group. In 2012 Ackermans was re-branded and today there are more than 450 Ackermans stores. This places Ackermans as a leading value fashion retailer for the whole family which continuously sets a standard of value and affordability. They have a fast selection of fashion for ladies, men, kids, and babies, as well as homeware, cellular and key financial products.

I am a shop assistant at Ackermans in one of the malls in the Western Cape. Mall hours are so long and my back hurts from standing all day. Sometimes I feel like the salary is not worth the endurance.

I've just started working in the HR Department of Ackermans at head office. The current staff welcomed me with open arms and so far, the experience has been pleasant. I would recommend anyone to work at Ackermans.
