McDonald’s, having opened their first Restaurant in South Africa in November 1995, operates 170 restaurants in nine of South Africa’s provinces- Eastern Cape; Free State; Gauteng; KwaZulu-Natal; Mpumalanga; Northern Cape; Northern Province; North West; Western Cape. Committed to the success of the South African market, McDonald’s has already invested more than R750-million directly into the South African economy. They have trained and employed over 7 500 Africans at various levels including franchisees, restaurant, restaurant managers and crew. In the McDonald’s international history, South Africa is one of the most successful markets. South Africa set a record when they opened 30 restaurants in just 23 months, at one stage opening 10 restaurants in 78 days.The restaurant is renowned for its training throughout the world; the South African crew members receive comprehensive training in restaurants across the country. More than 97% of all food served in McDonald’s restaurants in produced by South African suppliers to McDonald’s highest quality standards.

I am currently employed by McDonald’s SA as Brand & Events Manager. I have been with McDonald’s for 14 years with the background of Events (Corporate & Restaurant) & Activations, Marketing, Brand Management, Supply Chain and QA. I oversee the following Brands: • Desserts • Street Rhythm youth programme • Ronald McDonald programme • Restaurant Execution, campaign creative, brief and roll-out into restaurants, menu board price management • Agency management • Local Store Marketing • Launch of McDonald’s Delivery Services • Hospitality programme – execution of Family Hostesses • Grand Openings – new, existing restaurants and corporate events.
