A large Building Construction company operating throughout South Africa is looking for a suitably qualified Accountant /Snr Bookkeeper for its branch in the Eastern Cape based in PE, with a solid background in accounting and accounting practices up to trial balance along with statutory regulations, must be able to multitask and handle the pressures of the construction industry.

The accountant’s main role is the responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of financial transaction processing and record keeping within the company's policies and procedures framework while ensuring statutory compliance.
The accountant manages the accounting procedures and controls to ensure that accurate and up to date information is available to management. The accountant has the overall responsibility for the effective functioning of the finance department and team.

Manages the accounting processes and policies as per the company's BOS system
Accurate and timeous Processing of financial transactions
Collation of financial data and records and timeous reporting to Management
Ensures Compliance with Statutory Regulations

Measures

Prepares financial accounts up to Trial balance Level
Documents, validates and audits financial transactions
Ensures correctness and accuracy of cost allocations
Prepares payments by verifying documentation
Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
Collation of financial data and records and timeous reporting to Management
Ensures accurate compilation of all Balance Sheet Accounts and Reconciliations
Ensures completeness of financial transactions for monthly reporting Timeous roll over
Responsible for the preparation of reconciliations and preparation of audit files for Internal and External Financial Audits Audit File Maintenance
Monitors and reports on overhead and capital expenditure in comparison to budgets Budget vs Actual
Assists in the preparation of Annual Budgets
Ensures Compliance with Statutory Regulations
Compiles and submits accurate returns for all SARS related requirements
Assists with all required matters in regard to BEE verification
Facilitates and enables internal and external audits
Assists with FEM and CIDB compliance

Academic Qualification

Tertiary BCom degree/Tertiary Diploma (depending on years of experience)

Years and type of Experience

If no tertiary qualification - 10 years in similar or bookkeeper role
If tertiary qualification obtained – 5 years in similar or bookkeeper role
