Accountant - Pretoria

General Purpose The individual will be responsible for the full accounting function of the company including but not limited to:
• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts.
• General corporate accounting issues in order to ensure the integrity of the financial data
• General application of financial procedures and controls
• General administration and other duties assigned by the Group Financial Manager
Business Process Management • Ensure accurate reporting in accordance with set procedures
• Adhere to financial policies and procedures
• Adhere to statutory regulation (pertaining to institutions such as SARS, CIPRO, etc.)
• Report unauthorised expenditures to the Group Financial Manager
• Ensure that all payments are authorised, before payment thereof
• Data capturing of all financial transactions on a financial system to ensure accurate record and bookkeeping.
• Prepare audit files to submit to internal and external auditors (in compliance with requirements as set out by management and internal & external auditors)
• Prepare copy and enter journal entries.
• Managing SLA’s with business units
• Ensure financial documentation is up to date
Reporting • Effective monthly financial reporting
• Prepare, interpret and comment on monthly management reports
• Consolidation of monthly results
• Prepare monthly schedules WIP and revenue schedules
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of quarterly financial reporting schedules.
Payments • Accounts payable processing
• VAT returns and payments
• Pension fund and Medical aid payments.
• Payroll function
General Accounting • Perform reconciliation of all control accounts
• Prepare and process manual journal entries as required
• Review and correct GL as required
• Monthly measurement of financial performance vs. budget
• Ensure financial documentation is up to date

Education and Experience • Minimum qualifications: B.com accounting degree
• Minimum of 3 years commercial experience
• Ability and experience in performing full accounting function
• Work experience in a similar position
• Competent with Microsoft office, specifically MS Excel
• Work experience in a similar position
• Experience with working on Sage Pastel Evolution
