Our client, a leader in the retail industry, requires the service of an Accountant who will be responsible for the accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements of the company. The Accountant will also be responsible for reporting financial results on a monthly basis to enable the evaluation of the company’s actual performance against target.

Key performance areas:

? Applies principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports.
? Compiles and analyses financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
? Prepares balance sheets, profit, and loss statements and other reports to summarise and interpret current and projected financial position.
? Reconciles discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
? Oversee the preparation of information for and the execution of monthly invoicing cycle and reconciliations for non-RSA.
? Provide internal and external auditing services to substantiate financial transactions.
? Assist with the preparation of management reports.
? Assist in the formulation and capturing of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
? Conduct full expense analysis.
? Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.
? Preparation of annual financial statements.

The successful candidate must have:

? Matric with a 4 year Degree / NQF level 7 in Finance and Accounting
? 3 - 5 Years’ experience compiling annual financial statements
? 3 - 5 Years’ experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
? Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
? Knowledge of accounting and reporting standards
? Experience using AccPacc / SAP
? Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
