Actuarial Development & Group Risk Valuations Supervisor
Sandton, Johannesburg

• Technically sound individual, who is able to manage and coach team members
• Collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Oversee development projects across the corporate actuarial team, including investments, annuities and group risk products.
• Take ownership of the group risk valuation and reporting process, providing management insights to the business and ensuring appropriate reserves and capital are held.

• IFRS17 development and implementation
Take ownership and provide guidance on various elements of IFRS 17 development for the corporate business including: business including:
o Data and infrastructure development
o Policy and methodology formulation
o Transition calculations
o Actuarial modelling support
o Actuarial and finance process enablement
o Business impact analysis
• Process efficiency and automation
o Ensure processes are efficient, robust and fit for purpose
o Ensure the control environment is adequate and effective
• Group risk reserving, embedded value, capital and business insights
Oversee the valuation process and provide insights on the group risk financial results and performance, while ensuring appropriate controls, including:
o Reserving
o Market consistent embedded value
o Value of new business
o Analysis of surplus and embedded value
o Solvency capital calculations
o Earnings at risk
o Experience investigations
o Development and maintenance of tools to analyze actuarial data and results in order to enhance management reporting
o Produce reports providing insights into business results and emerging trends
• Provide mentorship and leadership to a small team of actuarial students
• Support the delivery of relevant project objectives as and when they arise

Skills, Qualification and Experience

• Qualified Actuary - exceptional candidates that don’t meet this requirement may be considered
• 6 years actuarial experience
• Strong technical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively to diverse technical and non-technical audiences (written and verbal)
• Experience leading a team
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with others
