Actuarial Manager: Group Benefits
Rosebank, Johannesburg

• Lead, mentor and develop actuarial team members
• Enhance knowledge and skills of team members by conducting or facilitating regular training sessions
• Prepare reports and results for submission to the Head of Actuarial Function
• Design new products and solutions and support product development initiatives including the design and pricing of insurance products and maintenance of existing products
• Pricing of new group schemes and reviewing of existing group schemes based on claims experience
• Compilation of product specifications and benefit design, premium rating, profit testing, product technical specifications and in some cases participate in the finalisation of documentation per product offering
• Develop business models and client proposals for new businesses, ventures, products and channels
• Monitor profitability of new and existing schemes and products, product risks and financial management to ensure business success for Group Benefits
• Monthly reporting on profitability, scheme renewals and quotations, highlighting any risks
• Set pricing bases, including reviewing and updating existing bases
• Calculate monthly reserves
• SAM and ORSA calculations, incl. the reviewing and updating of SAM and ORSA methodology and assumptions
• Sign-off on group scheme quotations and renewals
• Oversee and continuously develop the quotation and renewal processes
• Design, amend and implement tools and pricing models to support the pricing functions within the business
• Assist with IFRS 17 implementation in the business
• Provide technical assistance to the Group Benefit distribution and administration functions
• Ensure all products and schemes are TCF compliant
• Ad hoc investigations

Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Actuarial Degree
• Senior actuarial student, with no more than 3 exams outstanding
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a general Group Benefits environment
• Minimum of 2 years management experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
