Job Description:

Technical Management: Soil, Water, Light
Monitor in-field soil water management, consulting with the area manager and alerting the TM where problems are seen
Monitor and report on own findings of the different phenological stages
Report on the efficacy in the implementation of key plant growth regulator applications
Coordinate the leaf and soil sampling program
Assist the TM with soil profiling and mapping.
Fertigation & foliar spray implementation; spot checks on EC, tank mixes, etc.
Assist in data handling & evaluation and report writing
Conduct ad hoc technical assignments
Technical Management: Pest & Disease
Assist the P&DM in auditing the scouting procedure, reporting on P&D findings.
Monitor and report to the P&DM on the progress and efficiency of the P&D control program.
Conduct ad hoc technical assignments
Research and Development
Supervise the planning and implementation of field trials and packhouse storage trials for Western Cape farms
Assist in the evaluation of field trials
Supervise the harvesting of field trials
Assist in fruit sampling for cultivar evaluations and displays
Supervise the care and maintenance of cultivar trial plantings
Sample fruit & conduct laboratory analysis for cultivar evaluations
Collate fruit measurement data from technicians and farm teams

Relevant degree (BSc Agric Horticulture/Soil Science)
