The main purpose of the role

Responsible for building & maintaining customer & supplier relations, ensuring that the PEDI facility and packhouse operations meet the required food safety and quality assurance processes, procedures & standards, optimal resourcing, and general management of the Agrihub Department.


Key responsibility areas

• To ensure that the day-to-day operations of the Agrihub Dept are managed smoothly, work and staffing schedules are planned to ensure that service and standards are met.
• Conduct regular inspections on equipment & working environment to ensure adherence to food safety and QA requirements.
• Undertake planning and budgeting for the “fit out” and operation of the facility.
Prepare and present reports related to the facility, operations, trade, and staff.
• Assist in the planning and development of operational & maintenance schedules & procedures both internally and externally.
• Schedule and implement stock-takes and audits to maintain the required and relevant certification standards.
• Manage supply chain, e.g., supplier adherence to performance standards, ensuring that the administration of contracts, orders, deliveries, and payments are up to date and accurate.
• Design and implement systems that ensure that procurement and customer requirements meet organizational/operational standards.
• Develop new markets for produce and products.


Qualifications & training/experience

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification. • A tertiary qualification in Food Production, Processing & Trade fields will be advantageous. - • At least 4 years relevant production experience in a managerial position with exposure to customer/client interface.
• A thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
• Proficient computer skills of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet). • Understanding of the Regulatory environment relating to food production, packaging, and processing.
• Understanding of relevant Employment legislation.
• Experience in a Fresh Produce market and/or FMCG environment will be advantageous.
