Applications are invited from suitably qualified and skilled candidates for this position at the Agriculture Division, based at the Uitenhage operations. The Area Farm Manager: Laying will be responsible for managing the Companies Laying department, by producing sufficient eggs and chicks to meet our internal requirements, at the correct quantity, quality, health status and cost, which are capable of surpassing Breed performance objectives.
The ideal candidate will be in possession of a recognized Higher Certificate or Degree in Animal Production, with at least 3 years ‘experience in PS management and Laying Birds on multiple sites. The position reports directly to the Senior Production Manager: Breeders.

RESULTS REQUIRED
• Limiting and reducing all forms of wastage through accurate management, measurement and application of consumables, feed and resources;
• Understanding and analysing the monthly Laying Income Statement and the impact of our business on the overall day old chick price;
• Ensuring that all Company Assets are correctly maintained and cared for, limiting abuse and unnecessary replacement and repairs, through preventative maintenance and on the job interventions;
• Lead, motivate and retain a dedicated, consistent and well-disciplined team of employees;
• Ensure a thorough understanding of the Laying Standard Operating Procedures Manual, coupled with rigid adherence to the identified best practices;
• Ensure strict adherence to the Company approved Vaccination and Medication Program, and measure the application efficacy through the Routine Monitoring and Serology Program;
• Ensure that Boiler House and surroundings are kept clean and tidy at all times and that the housekeeping is up to standard.
