Area Manager: Jewellery

Area: Midrand Johannesburg

Salary: R20 833.33: Medical Aid, Cellphone Allowance, Pension + Petrol Allowance

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Capabilities
Criteria The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following:
Qualifications • Any formal jewellery related qualification and/or certificates

Experience
• 5 years in the jewellery industry
• Experience in:
o Marketing and sales of jewellery
o Jewellery manufacture
o Jewellery repair and valuations
o Jewellery industry training
o Watch repairs
o Multiple store management in an Operations role

Skills, capabilities,
Expertise • Developing and implementing business strategy
• Working with customer databases
• Analysis and interpretation of customer data
• A good knowledge of the Acts pertinent to the industry
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Budgeting skills and the capability of operating within an approved budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Store responsibilities
• Retail
• Drive volume in all jewellery sales
• Needs analysis carried out at each project store
• Budgeting/Costing calculations/approvals with Franchisees
• Purchase of wholesale stock and display collateral for initial set-up
• Purchase of equipment needed to operate effectively
• Setting up and merchandising of the jewellery retail section
• Implementation of pricing systems

• Training:
o Security (trade risk and after-hours risk)
o Merchandising and display standards
o Product knowledge
o Selling skills
o Value added services
o Wholesale replenishment system
o Markdown processes
• Regular planned store visitation, routine maintenance and follow-up

• Buy Shop

• Drive volume in buying and pawning of jewellery
• Purchasing of equipment needed for effective testing of jewellery
• Training:
o Practical sessions on how to test metals and stones
o Gold price purchasing relative to scrap versus re-saleable jewellery and jewellery with diamonds
o Popular and unpopular styling and how this affects purchases
o How to limit the risk relative to loans
o Fake watch identification (Rolex, Breitling, Tag Heuer, Omega, Rado etc.)
o Stock transfer process (to Gems and Gold)
o Courier system process (to Gems and Gold)

• Classroom Training Workshops (Quarterly, by Region)
