Our client, in the retail industry, requires the service of an Assistant Accountant to join their team.

Key performance areas:


? Analysis of inventory related data, e.g. gross profit margins, moving average cost, line item profitability.
? Maintenance of finance related master data, e.g. creation of additional and amendments to existing general ledger accounts, vendors, profit centres and cost centres.
? Reconciliation and clearing of general ledger accounts (especially related to inventory) on SAP.
? Identification and investigation of discrepancies on general ledger accounts and reporting thereon.
? Calculation and processing of inventory related accounting entries in accordance with IFRS, e.g. adjustments for railage, forex, confidential discounts, advertising recoupment, etc. in inventory.
? Assisting in the preparation of inventory and sales related reports.

The successful candidate must have:

? Matric with a B.Acc/B.Com/BTech degree with Financial Accounting and Management Accounting as major subjects
? A Postgraduate qualification with Financial Accounting and Management Accounting as major subjects and/or CIMA Completed accounting articles will be advantageous
? Must have at least 4 years work experience in an accounting environment
? Finance related work experience in a retail company will be advantageous
? Must be accurate and detail orientated
? Excellent computer literacy (Intermediate SAP knowledge)
? Basic BPC knowledge and skills will be advantageous
