Assistant Financial Manager required by an IT group based in Century City, to assist the Financial Manager with all financial duties for the group’s companies. Experience in Accpac as well as knowledge and experience with legislation, tax and VAT laws in SA, Kenya and Mauritius. Experience with overseeing bookkeepers and Assistant Accountants.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of cash flow weekly/monthly/quarterly
• Assisting with financial information required for budget preparation
• Ensuring all Documents and reports handled by you and your team are prepared and submitted by
due date
• Full accounting function in Kenya + Mauritius including vat returns and Statutory payments
• Reconciliation of all assigned general ledger accounts in SA, Kenya and Mauritius
• Processing of standard monthly journal entries in all companies
• Preparation of weekly/monthly reports for all companies
• Liaising with Kenya & Mauritius Absa bank forex department for spot rates required to effect
cashbook payments and transfers
• Submission of Kenya and Mauritius Statutory returns on respective revenue Authority portals
• Prepping of Kenya and Mauritius vat returns and uploading onto the Revenue Authority online portal
• Assisting with information for the preparation of audit file for auditors for all companies
• Checking and sign off of SA sundry creditors prepared by the bookkeeper
• Oversee the bookkeepers and Junior Accountants ensuring deadlines are met and processes followed
• Oversee all Cash book entries and bank recons processed by the bookkeeper and Junior accountant
for all companies i.e. SA, Kenya and Mauritius
• Reconciling loan accounts in Kenya and Mauritius and verifying balances with corresponding Company
Accountants
• Kenya and Mauritius Billing for expenses paid on their behalf monthly
• Checking GL control accounts with Cashbook, AR, AP and stock reports in all companies
• Managing the return of funds to Kenya and Mauritius received in SA bank accounts
• Loading Adhoc sundry payments on Investec portal
• Filing linked to above job functions

Requirements
• A Financial Accountant, or similar Degree
• 10+ years Financial Accountant / Assistant Accountant / Financial Manager experience
• Knowledge of and experience with SA, Kenya, and Mauritius legislation and tax laws
• Experience with managing bookkeepers and Jnr Accountants
• Experience with Accpac
