Audio Visual / Jnr IT Technician (Support)

Our client a private learning institution seeks to appoint an Audio Visual Technician who will be responsible for managing and operating all audio visual and lighting equipment at various events as well as provide basic IT user support to staff and pupils.

Requirements:
• Minimum Grade 12.
• A relevant Audio Visual Diploma required.
• An IT Diploma will also be advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years experience within a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge of various audio visual, sound and lighting equipment.
• Working knowledge of LCD Projector, Overhead Project, TV & Video, Data Projectors, Projection Screens, Microphones, Pointers, Sound Desk, Stage Lighting etc.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• Have a good eye and ear for sound and image quality.
• Ability to interact with service providers, obtain quotes and manage their services on campus.
• Ability to maintain Asset Registry and regularly check key points and keep them organised.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
• Ability to efficiently research problems and their solutions.
• Be able to multi-task and prioritise actions based on nature and urgency of requests.
• Able to interact with pupils and staff; assist them when required, with assistance covering all manner of devices and technology.
• Forward planner and punctual; this role requires the incumbent to be ‘on time every time’ and prepared for ‘all situations’.
• An individual that is ‘calm’ and organized in stressful situations.
• People’s person, who is patient and who can adjust their explanation of problems and resulting solutions according to the level of the user.
• Individual that enjoys problem solving and researching solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Set-up audio visual, sound and lighting equipment for various events at the school.
• Operate these components during indoors, outdoors events, conferences, meetings, sporting events, prize-givings, concerts and competitions.
• Effectively managing the resources and support event at the various venues.
• Liaise with service provides to obtain quotes for events, the arrangements resulting therefrom, and any other duties required from organisers of events, within reason.
• Maintain the Asset Registry of equipment and regularly audit the state of all venues under this role and report any issues to the ICT Manager.
• Keep all areas listed above in a neat state and completely organized, including store areas.
IT & AV Support:
• Assist staff and pupils daily with: device support, including, but not limited to laptops, iPads, mobile phones, and printers.
o AV in classrooms, multi-purpose venues and other areas for lessons, events and other school-related gatherings at School. This includes:
o Installing hardware or software.
o The setup up new equipment and upgrading of existing systems, creating user names, login’s.
o The maintenance and repair of equipment.
o Troubleshooting different computer issues.
• Maintain, upgrade or replace classroom, multi-purpose and other areas’ IT and AV resources, as necessary and/or instructed.
o Support the Helpdesk; monitor and maintain call logs.
o Maintain inventory listings and documentation of all processes.
o Provide After-Hours AV Support.
