Job Description:

Complete all accounting and bookkeeping functions for clients including review of payments for correct allocation
and VAT treatment
The ability to gather and process all financial information required to prepare an all-inclusive trial balance;
preparation of management account statements; compilation of value-added tax computation and calculation of employee tax liability; including the ability to reconcile the bank and VAT control accounts to the VAT201 return and Employee Tax control account to the EMP201 return and Income Tax control account to the IT34 Income Tax / IRP6 Provisional Tax return where necessary.
The above are required for individuals / freelancers / sole proprietors, partnerships, close corporations, companies and trusts.
Ensure accurate and on-time monthly data processing services ensuring compliance with the VAT/Employee Tax/Income Tax and Company/CC/NPO Acts (processing can be done at office or onsite at the client’s office)
Weekly/daily review of cashbook, invoicing, creditors and debtors age analysis including management of the credit control process and/or management of debt collection
Stock control and management
Compile stock adjusting journals incl. reconciliation
Compile and maintain fixed asset register including depreciation journals
Compile monthly employee journals incl. reconciliation
Compile year-end adjusting journals
Verify compliant invoices and 3rd party supporting documents according to the Companies Act, VAT Act, etc.
Compile management accounts and reports for various entities including trial balance, statement of financial
position, statement of comprehensive income and supporting schedules / documents
Review system of internal controls and management and promote/propose more effective management systems
Manage client relationships, compliance plan, deadlines and all client deliverables i.e., all inter-functional activities
Manage own time through an electronic timekeeping system (time sheets) and be responsible for monitoring the costs on the client jobs assigned, updating billing information as required by management.

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably completed a degree in Accounting/Taxation (NQF Level 6)
5+ years bookkeeping including employees’ tax and VAT experience in an accounting or audit firm
Preference will be given to candidates that is Registered with SAIBA (Southern African Institute for Business
Accountants) or ICB (Institute of Certified of Bookkeepers) in good standing
Income Tax and Provisional Tax experience will be an advantage
Must have worked with a diverse portfolio of bookkeeping clients in an Accounting firm, having been responsible
for client correspondence (speaking directly to clients to obtain information etc) as well as correspondence with
third parties (e.g., banks, suppliers, financial advisors).
An organised individual who can take responsibility for their portfolio with minimum supervision and multitask
where necessary.
Sound working knowledge of Sage One Accounting & - Payroll, Pastel Partner, Xero Accounting, VIP Payroll,
Draftworx, Tax Software (i.e., Taxware), SARS ****@*****.*** and SARS eFiling
Sound working knowledge of Sage One Accounting and Xero Accounting (the latter not essential but preferable)
Previous experience of electronic client recording systems
Technical Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Advance Excel
Solid knowledge of financial processes, systems and related legislation
Excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal & written) – Proficient in Afrikaans and English
Excellent time management skills
Driver’s license and own transport preferred
