Our client is in the Coal Industry and they looking for Coal Laboratary Analyst Supervisor

Accurately conduct physical coal sampling and testing analysis of routine samples.

Receipting, recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required.

Operation of analytical and manual preparation equipment.

Compliance with analytical methods, procedures and Quality Systems.

At least 2 years’ experience in previous coal sampling and testing laboratory.

Coordination Skills, Time Management, Communication Skills, Mathematical Skills and reporting skills are in key in this role

Duties & Responsibilities

Process and analyze incoming coal samples in accordance with industry-standard testing methods established by laboratory management and ASTM procedures.
Observe analytical results and quality control data to ensure compliant conditions.
Inform supervisor of any deviation from acceptable quality control and participate in corrective action.
Trouble shoot and maintain all laboratory equipment.
Must adhere to all company and industry-established safety policies and procedures.
Daily maintenance check on all laboratory equipment, review their condition and advise for any corrective action, ensuring an equipment availability of 90%.
Maintain good housekeeping throughout the laboratory.
Daily check all coal laboratory assets against the asset list and report daily on asset register. Maintain photos of all laboratory assets on a monthly basis.
Ensure all coal laboratory equipment are in working order.
Prepare cleaning, servicing and maintenance plans for all laboratory assets and ensure compliance.
Report on any laboratory equipment breakdown or damage immediately to the Supervisor.
Conduct Coal sampling, sample preparation, analysis and reporting of results accurately.
Ensure operational performance of the Coal Laboratory Operations, that all samples are analyzed, and accurate results are reported within the turnaround time agreed with the Wash Plant Supervisor and Contractor’s Plant Manager.
Conduct integrity review on all analysis results and ensure all test results are accurate and compliant with relevant standards.
Coordinate with the procurement team for timely procurement of laboratory spares, consumables and maintenance items required.
Ensure proper relationships and communication is maintained with all relevant parties.
Ensure good laboratory practices are maintained.
Ensure sampling procedure is followed at all times and results communicated to all concerned parties immediately.
Maintain an excel sheet with all samples taken, their status of results, copy of results, stockpile number, type of sample etc as per agreed format and circulate the same on a Daily basis.
Attend operational meetings as required.
Sample Preparation:Coal sampling at stockpiles, automatic sampler (mechanical plants), trains and ad-hoc as required. Conduct Proximate analysis of all samples: CV, Sulphur, Various Physical analysis
Conducttool box meetings and prestart checklists and all other requirements of Health & Safety.
Ensure disposal of laboratory waste is done as per the waste disposal conditions as provided by the environmental officer.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Degree/Diploma in Chemistry will be an added advantage.

At least 2 years’ experience in previous coal sampling and testing laboratory.

Coal sampling, sample preparation, analysis and reporting experience are essential, coal beneficiation experience will be an added advantage.

Excellent mathematical skills
