Collections Supervisor

The organisation seeks to appoint a Collections Supervisor to join one of their group of schools located in Umlazi and Surrounding area. The successful candidate will be a part of a multidisciplinary team and responsible for the day-to-day finance function at the school, encompassing bookkeeping up to trial balance, and a considerable amount of debtors control activities at a large scale. The position is based in Umlazi, Durban, and the role reports to the head of finance.

Core Areas of Work:
Day-to-day management of the finances of the school under the direction of the Head of Finance
Bookkeeping up to trial balance
Managing of budgets
Monitoring of all income and expenditure relating to internal budgets
Preparing of financial reports for the Executive Head
Payroll administration

Debtor collections, which include:
Full reconciliation of debtors
Monitoring overdue debtors and invoices making necessary follow up calls
Resolving any queries
Performing and maintaining an age analysis
Sending out invoices and statements as and when necessary
Allocation of payments from remittances
Maintaining excellent client relationships
Experience as a telephone collector and team supervisor.
Identifies areas of the collection process that need improvement and implements an enhanced process that will help collectors be more effective.
Tracks the rate of success of the entire process and continues to make adjustments when necessary.
Trains new employees and holds training reviews for established employees.
Establishes quality control standards and maintains and enforces them over time.
Negotiates payment arrangements and follows up to make sure the payments are made.
Audit preparation

Requirements for the role:
5 years’ relevant experience in a relevant collection supervisory role with experience in:
Contact centre team management
Strong work ethic with ability to take own initiative
Communication and relationship building abilities
Ability to perform under pressure and show tenacity
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
Must have strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
Superior math skills.
Must be able to effectively prioritize tasks.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
Must have good critical thinking skills and exercise sound judgment
