Our client provides service and products to a wide range of companies and customers in South Africa and into the rest of Africa. They also provide ship chandelling services and are based in Cape Town. They would like to appoint a Commercial Manager who would be responsible for the development, performance and maintenance of the commercial processes of the organisation to obtain maximum efficiency, quality, service, profitability and growth for the company. This position will require international travel. The ideal candidate should not only be sales orientated, but must have displayed the ability in their commercial experience thus far, that they can render technical assistance to prospective clients when new products of a technical nature are introduced.
Primary Functions:
• Market research to identify new business opportunities and client leads as well as to inform strategic business decisions
• Maintenance, development and growth of client relationships this will include travel to various African Destinations
• Mastermind business growth strategies to help meet organizational goals and objectives
• Attend networking events and build industry connections in order to facilitate business growth
• Oversee branding and marketing endeavours to ensure all efforts are aligned with business goals
• Negotiate new projects and contract terms with clients
• Works with other departments to ensure delivery of quality solutions & customer satisfaction
• Reporting on commercial performance and activities of the business

Secondary Functions :
• The role is part of the whole organisation team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when are necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.
• You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability, having consideration for the needs of your colleagues, and the organisation and its clients/customers. You must obey all lawful and reasonable orders given to you and comply with the organisation’s rules, procedures and policies

Skill Requirements:
• 5+ years prior experience in business development or marketing fields
• A proven history of successful leadership
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
o Languages: English.
o Additional Languages: French, Portuguese (Advantageous)
• Must be a strategic thinker and a have strong negotiation skills
• Possess a collaborative mind-set and work well as part of a team
• Superior time management abilities and capable of meeting deadlines
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Strong organizational & project management skills needed to ensure delivery from initial bid to final completion of client requirements
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients and industry contacts
• Ready to travel on average one week per month
