Advertisement: Community Development Workers –10 months contract (4 Posts)

SANCA Pretoria, an NGO operating as an in-patient treatment center for alcohol and drug addiction for male and female addicts and a unit for male youths, from its Pretoria-North premises and two out-patient clinics from its Soshanguve and Hammanskraal premises, invites suitably qualified candidates within the City of Tshwane to apply.

The project is for community outreach and community liaison with all drug and substance abuse response programme stakeholders within a specific region and monitoring and evaluation of the drug and substance response programme.


Applicants are encouraged to apply for their respective regions to ensure that appointments are localized.

Job profile: Community Development Workers (4 posts)

The posts are available in the following regions: Region 5(Cullinan/Refilwe and surrounding areas), Eersterust, and Region 7 (Bronkhorstspruit, Ekangala and surrounding areas)

Appointment requirements:
3 or 4 year tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in social sciences and/or health sciences
Computer literacy
Experience in community empowerment
Experience in drug and substance abuse work will be an added advantage
Willingness to work outside working hours as and when required
Fluency in English and an African Language
Fluency in Afrikaans will be an added advantage.

Primary functions and responsibilities:
Community awareness and education
Building and strengthening community systems
Sector mobilisation and support
Community and stakeholder liaison
Data and information management
Monitoring and evaluation (including management of performance information), social relief interventions, programme planning and implementation, community development and empowerment, drug and substance response programme coordination, office administration, NPO support and monitoring and evaluation.

Salary: R9 000 per month before deductions.
