Distribution Manager

Area : Boksburg

Package : negotiable depending on qualifications and experience

MISSION

Analyse the distribution trends and landscape to support defining the Southern Africa distribution strategy. Apply the Group Distribution Approach and manage its implementation at the entity level (propose the Group Distribution Strategy, for the territory)

MAIN ACTIVITIES

1. Support development and evolution of the distribution approach
a. Develop distribution strategy (5-year horizon), the result of the Distribution Approach, which consists of the following:
> Integrated Channel Strategy
> Retail Channel Strategy
> Wholesale Channel Strategy to support/service Retail Strategy
> Channel Accessibility Strategy for Brands/Products
> Geographic Approach to determine & Competitors' market position
b. Deploy Distribution Approach/process to Southern Africa Cluster countries.
c. Develop a consolidated view of distribution
d. Complete numerical templates/reports covering various distribution aspects as required

2. Contribute to annual market diagnostics (marketing plan)
a. Develop "Distribution" component of Market Diagnostic with Sales, Brands input
b. Support Sales Regions development of local market attack plans
c. maintain a volume evolution tool by key customer/customer group by brand category
evolutions

3. Define and deploy account diagnostic approach across all countries.

4. Identify, analyze, and evaluate future changes in distribution a. Identify & develop new distribution opportunities for under-developed markets b. Identify/analyze emerging distribution channels/entities
c. Coordinate with Corporate Development and other Business Units to anticipate and evaluate changes.


5. Identify and anticipate major changes in distribution strategies of competitors

6. Liaison with central (Data reporting Central orientations)

7. Contribute as Distribution SME on key projects, budget planning.


PREREQUISITE
Minimum education level or equivalent work experience:
a. Academic knowledge:
a. minimum four-year college degree
> Sales aptitude
> Marketing and analytical aptitude
> Financial/Business Management aptitude
> Written and verbal communication skills
> Technologically proficient (computer)
> Interpersonal skills at all organizational levels
b. Managerial know-how:
> Organizational skills to include planning, project management, and facilitation
> Understand and utilize all appropriate corporate resources
c. Experience:
> Sales, Marketing, or Consulting experience
> Commercial knowledge--all distribution channels (consumer products)
> Sales Program Development/Pricing experience
Awaited professional experience:
• Sales Management (ASM, RSM) or Sales Planning - experience in dealing with a range of customers; understanding of the differences among customers/channels and how to interact with them
• Marketing Intelligence (Business Intelligence Manager or Analyst) - experience in dealing with external market information; understanding of what market information is available
• Commercial knowledge--all distribution channels (consumer products)
• Sales Program Development/Pricing experience
• Willingness to travel in Africa.
