DRIVER TRAINER/RECRUITMENT OFFICER (HEAVY DUTY DRIVERS) - WELLINGTON

A well-known, established logistics company based in Wellington specializing in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Transport has an exciting position for a DRIVER TRAINER/RECRUITER. Head office based in Wellington and branches across South Africa. Company has a large fleet that plied within the South African region.The above vacancy is available in Wellington:

• Previous Experience: 5 years
• The successful candidate will have to be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•15 Leave days per annum.
• Code 14 drivers’ license
• Need to be prepared to go on road trips with school drivers.
• TETA accredited Assessor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Operational administration, classroom training of new and existing drivers.
Recruitment and selection of new drivers.
Driver evaluation (classroom as well as on the road).
On route training of new drivers as well as existing drivers

1.TRAINING
Do on route tests with drivers in order to make new appointments, as well as on route tests of current driver-personnel on request and make necessary recommendations thereafter.
Do diesel testing on vehicles.
Presentation of training classes for new driver personnel, as well as retraining existing drivers at Alrode Depot or Wellington Depot as required.
Establishing retraining timetables for existing staff, including ad hoc training based on disciplinary offences.
Preparing feedback reports for new drivers in training.
Training for operations and operations support staff.
Make recommendations to the Manager Operational Support regarding which drivers should come in for further training.
Responsible for maintaining discipline in the Training Department in accordance with Anderson Transport's Disciplinary Code and Grievance Procedure.

2. RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
Posting of advertisements of available driver positions.
Check the new candidates completed application forms.
Make referrals to relevant staff in the department according to established standards.
Interview the applicants.
Have LVA tests done with applicants prior to appointment.
Perform an entrance and practical test on candidates.
Submit applicant for medical tests to doctors and check reports of medical tests to approve application. Reports must be filed in the candidates/driver's personnel file.
References and police clearance must be submitted to the Manager Operational Support together with the application form.
Operational Support must approve the appointment of the candidate. This will be either permanently, temporarily or on contractual basis.
Complete the requisition form and pass it on to the personnel department to draw up a contract for the new employee.
New appointments must be communicated to the Training Department.
Test the driver again after training to establish whether the new employee is up to standard.
Advise management on appointments including any disapproval of new driver personnel, after training is completed.
Recruitment, selection and appointment of staff for the Training Division must be done in collaboration with Personnel Administration.

3. DISCIPLINE
Recovery of fines from drivers.
Analyze of cellphone accounts and deductions of drivers where necessary.
Conducting disciplinary investigations.
Completion of disciplinary interviews.
Completion of disciplinary hearings.
Investigation of disciplinary matters as per outstanding disciplinary register.
Recommendations regarding disciplinary sanction after investigations have been finalized.
Attending disciplinary hearings (level 3) and acting as presiding officer.
Daily contact with Manager Operational Support (confirmation of hearings and other disciplinary matters).
