The DTP specialist joins the in-house team responsible for the layout, proofreading and repro-ready. Artworking of all packaging and collateral items for a global skincare brand.

Their packaging has so far been translated into 50 languages and they have created country-specific localised versions of every pack for each of over 100 distributors. There are more distributor launches planned, and many more products and collateral items in development.
The work the DTP team does is unique in the South African context: we do a few things many times, rather than many things just a few times. This offers a rare opportunity to tackle things systematically so as to ensure that repeatable tasks are implemented as quickly and accurately as possible.

The DTP specialists are responsible for creating robust and efficient InDesign templates (from the design team’s brief). The templates are data-merged with localised content pulled form an online content management system. This requires an advanced working knowledge of InDesign and/or a demonstrable aptitude for learning and mastering the software’s advanced functions. Amongst other things, the DTP specialist will also be responsible for generating print ready PDF-files for our print and packaging suppliers and for rendering pack shots in Photoshop.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ relevant experience, be highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite’s InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat applications and have a good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
