Projects & Engineering Manager (ROSSLYN PRETORIA)

Name of Superior: General Manager

1: Summary of Duties:
List the Main Functions in basic detail
? Overall responsibility for all activities related to the Projects.
? Must be able to Plan, Lead, Organize & Control all Personnel & activities under his control during
the entire project time period.
? Reach project objectives in the short, medium & long term by meeting milestones.
? Liaise with Customer, Suppliers & Service providers on all activities to ensure the success of the
project.

2: Main Duties:

? Manage Customer requirements, feedback on progress and close out of all required activities.
? Manage Service providers and suppliers, ensuring they meet all milestones required for the project
and ensuring their compliance with the project budget objectives.
? Manage and assist with the employment of staff.
? Responsible for Manpower planning and manning to ensure a stable supply to the customer.
? Responsible to ensure proper staff training is provided for the project.
? Responsible to ensure quality milestones such as sample submissions & documentation are
maintained thereby ensuring minimum Quality problems at the customer.
? Manage the Process Engineering activity thereby ensuring process flows are the most economical
processes possible to produce the various product.
? Manage & plan the tooling requirements of the project.
? Equipment development
? Projects Cost savings actions
? BOM development, update and improvement proposal
? Budget setup annually
? Lean manufacturing activities: standarized work, 5S procedures, tool change procedures,
packaging definition and improvements, insure product traceability
? Lead Engineer team in all branches
3: Description of Auxiliary Activities:
List the activities that are required by the Incumbent but are not necessarily part of the job requirements
? Submit regular reports on project performance against project budget in terms of Projects & capital
investment.

Job Description

? Submit regularly updated project timing plans.
? Have regular Meetings with customer, service providers & staff under his control during the project
planning.
? Submit monthly report on progress.

4: Job Requirements
4.1 Education
? Matric + Technical further education (Technical degree or Diploma)
? Computer literate
? Training in Production Management.
? Training in Project management
4.2 Experience
? Minimum of 5 years Managerial experience preferably in a related industry
? Minimum 5 years in Automotive Industry
? Experience in Human Resources and Industrial Relations
? Experience in Maintenance & Equipment planning
? Experience in Management of Projects

4.3 Knowledge and Skills
? Strong people skills in dealing both with Customer, Service Providers & employees .

4.4 Languages
? Must be fluent in English (Speaking, Reading & Writing)

4.5 Work Contacts (internal, external, written, oral)
? Internal – All levels
? External – Suppliers & Customers
