Environmental & Horticulture Manager – Century City

Century City Property Owners’ Association (CCPOA), functioning as a mini municipality, is responsible for the entire Century City precinct.
Embracing the principles of new urbanism, Century City is a 250ha mixed-use development combining office, retail, residential and leisure components in an integrated, stimulating and aesthetically pleasing urban environment. Among its unique attractions are the 8km of navigable canals that meander throughout the development and Intaka Island, an award winning wetlands conservation area.
Reporting to the CEO, the Environmental and Horticulture Manager will manage all Environmental, including Intaka Island Nature Reserve, and Horticultural issues under the responsibility of the CCPOA, in accordance with approved strategies and objectives. For this diverse and challenging role, you will:
• Proactively contribute as a member of the CCPOA management team to achieve Company wide strategies and objectives.

• Manage and co-ordinate all CCPOA Environmental responsibilities including:
? Manage Intaka Island to conserve the natural flora & fauna and develop & maintain eco-tourism and environmental education initiatives in
line with the Environmental Management Plan and the guidance from the Intaka Island Blouvlei Environmental Committee and the Intaka
Island Environmental Trust respectively.
? Manage and monitor implementation of all environmental issues related to designated areas such as the Century City canals, detention pond and common areas including landscaping.
? Oversee environmental site management in line with EMP for those construction sites where appointed as Environmental Control Officer.
? Maintain and manage the canals and detention pond to a standard which will maximize their original designed function.
• Manage and co-ordinate all CCPOA Horticultural responsibilities including:
? Maintain, develop and revamp the gardens in the common landscaped areas of Century City, grass medians and Central Park Oval.
? Develop, maintain and promote positive and professional relationships with Century City property owners to ensure that all gardens within
Century City are maintained to the required standards.
? Oversee the running of the nursery to ensure that genetically correct indigenous species are propagated and planted as per the EMP and
landscaping requirements.
• Lead, manage, motivate and guide the Environmental/Horticulture team to achieve Division wide strategies and objectives in line with the
Company’s strategies and as per standards required.
? Ensure a consumer orientated and responsive service is provided to all stakeholders.
? Manage the human resources of the team in line with Company policies and the latest labour legislation.
? Prepare and manage the Division’s budget and ensure that all activities are carried out in line with the budget.
? Uphold all Health & Safety initiatives within the Division and any areas of operation, to ensure all employees and other persons are not at
risk.
? Monitor activities on site, to ensure all the CCPOA environmental/horticultural and other Rules and Regulations are being adhered to.
? Manage public relations regarding all environmental/horticultural issues within Century City.

To qualify for this position you will need:
• Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in environment/conservation/horticultural fields
• 5 years related experience in a management position
• Code EB Drivers license
