Head of Internal Audit (Mining) – AA/EE

An opportunity to work for a giant in Mining space with a strong heritage and proven technology! You will be tasked with strengthening the audit function and ensuring that there are tight controls in place with excellent compliance and diminishing the risk of fraud and corruption.

The ideal candidate will meet the following Minimum requirements:
• CA (SA) or CIA qualification
• Must be a member of the Internal Auditor Institute
• At least 10 years in an Audit Function with 5 years being at a Senior Management level
• Big 4 background (Associate Director level experience)
• Solid mining sector Audit experience (at least 4 - 5 years)
• Very strong track record of implementing anti bribery and/or fraud strategies
• Superb communication and stakeholder management skills

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Monitoring Compliance, this is an essential and vital part of the role. You will be tasked with sniffing out any fraud, bribery and corruption within the business. As Chief of Internal Audit it will be your responsibility to be both proactive and reactive to the aforementioned
• Serve as a standing invitee to Executive Committee meetings and respective board meetings to ensure that stakeholders are being held accountable for audit findings
• Overseeing the Audit Strategy, this would entail reviewing the current state of internal audit and identifying where there are gaps of weakness. Rolling out a strategy that would ensure a smooth audit for external auditors with as little anomalies as possible
• Implementing strong audit controls and risk management, this would be to ensure that internal frameworks are adherent to King IV standards for example
• Foster a healthy work environment and promote a culture of high ethics and standards across the business with sound audit best practices governed by due diligence across the various business units in the business
